RG: Can you tell us how the Business Model at HGS has evolved over the years.

TW: HGS founded in 1992 and went public in 1993. I’ve been with the company since 2004. RG: Tell us a little bit about your supply chain…

RG: What is the biggest challenge operationally. How would you go from discovering a new drug to mass-producing it. RG: What has been your biggest leadership challenge.

TW: When I got to HGS, it was transforming from being basically an extremely high quality science company to a business. So we killed many projects -- really good science -- but it wasn’t clear we could make any money on them. Q: If you were to distill your leadership style to one value, what would it be. Can you give us examples of how this value has consistently and persistently guided you through your career?

A: The brand I admire most in recent years is Apple. Everything we do is subject to the law of diminishing returns but Apple keeps popping onto new growth curves with innovations that dramatically build their business. A: We are embarked on the Asian century, and particularly within that, the Chinese century. Q: Your other predictions…

A: I’ve given some other talks recently prognosticating the future of the U.S. auto industry after the bailouts. RG:  Tell me about your leadership style

JM: I think as a CEO there are a lot of hats you wear but one is to be a cheerleader for the rest of the company. You can never let your employees “fall on their own sword.” You have to be -- and you are -- the employee motivator, Periactin maximum dosage.
